My fascination with hares started when I would see the same hare looking back at me every morning on the way to the school bus. He was so long and wiry and would stand on his hind legs in the tall grass to get a better look at us. Unlike rabbits, they live in pairs and box like humans which attracted me to their personalities. I imagine their conversations and more so their arguments and find it irresistible to portray their relationships through my paintings. Their expressive faces with their huge bright eyes, and sinewy bodies make them the perfect subject matter for my tendency to humanise the animals I see.
